New Supply Conditions Relating to Di-Gesic and Doloxene

On 1 January 2014 new conditions relating to the prescribing and dispensing of Di-Gesic (dextropropoxyphene HCl 32.5mg/paracetamol 325mg) and Doloxene (dextropropoxyphene napsylate) came into effect.

For all new prescriptions written on and after this date, doctors must complete a Prescriber Confirmation Form. Audit and Pharmacy copies of the Form must be presented with the script to pharmacy in order for the product to be dispensed. Pharmacists should not dispense an original script without the Prescriber Confirmation Form, even if the script was written prior to 1 January 2014.

Repeat prescriptions do not require a Prescriber Confirmation From, regardless of when they were first dispensed.

Detailed information for doctors and pharmacists can be found on the Aspen website. For log on details, please call the Aspen Contact Centre on 1300 659 646, and select option 1 or 2.
